Jan Dubecký graduated in History (BA) and East European Studies (BA, MA) from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University, where he completed his master thesis on the comparison of the president’s role in the constitutional development of Ukraine and Belarus. He is currently pursuing a PhD double degree in German-Slavic Studies at Sapienza University (Rome, Italy) and Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic).

Jan’s research focuses on political science, particularly the theory of democracy, with an emphasis on its application in Eastern Europe. His work examines the influence of digital technologies and social media on the perception and interpretation of democracy and democratic values in the Ukrainian and Belarusian contexts.

Culturally, Jan is deeply connected to the Eastern European (primarily Russian), Central European, and German cultural spheres. He also spent a year studying at the University of Heidelberg’s Institute of Slavic Studies in Germany.
